abstract

the method expressed by salem and ravat. (2003) for depth estimation of magnetic sources is used on gravity anomalies for the first time. the depth of some rectangular prisms as synthetic models are estimated through the method. the gravity effect of these models is also considered with a relatively high value of random noise. a field example is also included and the depth of the main anomaly has been estimated using this method.

Depth estimation of gravity anomalies by S-transform of analytic signal

The S-transform has widely been used in the analysis of non-stationary time series. A simple method to obtain depth estimates of gravity field sources is introduced in this study. We have developed a new method based on the spectral characteristics of downward continuation to estimate depth of structures. This calculation procedure is based on replacement of the Fourier transform with the S-Tra...

depth and body type estimation of the magnetic anomalies using analytic signal and euler deconvolution.

a variety of semiautomatic methods, based on the use of derivatives of the magnetic anomalies, have been developed for the determination of both of the causative source parameters such as locations of boundaries and depths. one of these techniques is the method of the analytic signal for magnetic anomalies, which was initially used in its complex function form and makes use of the properties of...

a comparison between the horizontal gradient of analytic signal method and the analytic signal-euler deconvolution combined method using synthetic data in interpretation of magnetic geological structures

the analytic signal method is a semiautomatic method for estimating the location of causative bodies in magnetic and gravity methods. the application of analytic signal for interpretation of two dimensional (2d) structures was introduced by nabighian (1972). the analytic signal is defined as a complex function in which the real and imaginary parts are a pair of hilbert transforms. in other word...

a new edge detection method based on the analytic signal of tilt angle (asta) for magnetic and gravity anomalies

in order to obtain maximum information from magnetic and gravity anomaly maps, application of an edgedetection method is necessary. in this regard two commonly used methods are derivative filters and local phase filters. in this paper, a matlab code is expanded to combine an analytic signal filter and a tilt angle filter as a new edge detection filter called asta filter. this method was demonst...

depth estimation of gravity anomalies using hopfield neural networks

the method of artificial neural network is used as a suitable tool for intelligent interpretation of gravity data in this paper. we have designed a hopfield neural network to estimate the gravity source depth. the designed network was tested by both synthetic and real data. as real data, this artificial neural network was used to estimate the depth of a qanat (an underground channel) located at...
